Getting a Marriage Certificate in India, if residing outside your hometown is so Difficult? I belong to Hyd (as per passport), my wife is from Nagpur. We are both married since the last 1.5 months and have been finding it difficult to get a marriage certificate since we are in Pune and the folks out here ask for a permanent address proof/voter card which is local to Pune only. With both me and my wife having a permanent address of Hyd and Nagpur, how do we get ourselves a marriage certificate. We are now settled in pune for the last 2 yrs and stay in a rented accomodation. We do not have a BSNL landline since its not required, but have an Indane Gas connection on my name.I also dont have my wife's name in my rent agreement. What are my options here? The agents charge 4000 INR which is expensive. Is agent my only option? Going to Hyderabad to get this done is quite challenging. People any suggestions, what I should be doing ?... Read More »
